Our Founder, Dr. Julia Philyaw
Dr. Philyaw has held a variety of roles in higher education and management consulting. Her diverse career has afforded her the opportunity to lead various functional areas within higher education including student outreach and engagement, student programming, student admissions and advising, financial aid, academic program development, program evaluation, curriculum course and program development, and staff and faculty professional development and learning. In her consulting roles, Dr. Philyaw has led complex transformational projects with 2-year community colleges, 4-year private institutions, regional state institutions, and historically black colleges and universities.
At the core of what Dr. Philyaw loves about her career – her “why” – has been and will always be people. Dr. Philyaw works side by side with leaders, faculty, staff, and students. Dr. Philyaw supports these individuals and teams to challenge assumptions, clarify goals, develop strategies to meet goals, monitor and assess progress, iterate processes, and engage in assessment, reflection, and storytelling.
